Camp Erin OC, A bereavement Camp For Children

The Spencer Hospice Foundation is an Orange County based nonprofit that works to enhance the lives of terminally ill patients. I am excited to share with you their latest initiative, Camp Erin. Camp Erin is designed for children ages 6-17 who have experienced the death of a parent, friend or loved one. It is a weekend-long experience filled with traditional, fun, camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support -- facilitated by grief professionals and trained volunteers. Refer to the attached  APPLICATION  or for the  VOLUNTEER  form for additional information.

Camp Erin is funded in part by The Moyer Foundation, which was established by Major League, 2008 World Series-winning All-Star Pitcher, Jamie Moyer and his wife Karen, in 2000. Since its inception, The Moyer Foundation has granted support over 170 non-profit organizations that help children in severe distress, including the Spencer Hospice Foundation.

The camp will be held at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center in the City of Orange on August 13th -15th 2010. I have attached both the camper and volunteer application, as they are reaching out to the community to get involved. Campers must be between the ages of 6-17, and have experienced the loss of a person whom they love. The camp is FREE to all participants, thanks to the support of the Moyer Foundation and community donations. All volunteers must be 21 years of older, pass a background check, and attend a comprehensive volunteer training scheduled on Saturday, May 22. Please visit their website to learn more, watch videos and download camper and volunteer applications
