GETTING HELP

Are you at risk of foreclosure and losing your home? Please refer to the following websites for steps on how and where to get help while you still have your home. It is very important that you reach out and get help as early as possible in the foreclosure process, usually at the time that you receive a Notice of Default from your lender. The following links can give you further information about what your next steps can be to protect your home from foreclosure.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has approved housing counseling agencies available to provide you with the information and assistance to avoid foreclosure. Their site will give you the contact information for local providers. HUD Foreclosure Avoidance Counseling

Are you Eligible for Refinancing or Loan Modification? Please use the self-assessment tools provided on the Making Home Affordable website to see if you are among 7 to 9 million homeowners who may be able to benefit from this program.

HOPE NOW is an alliance between HUD-approved counseling agents, mortgage companies, investors and other mortgage market participants that provides free foreclosure prevention assistance. HOPE NOW: Support and Guidance for Homeowners

The Orange County Home Ownership Preservation Collaborative (OC HOPC)is a partnership of non-profit, government,& business leaders committed to promoting and preserving the dream of homeownership through outreach, education, counseling,& financing. The Fair Housing Council of Orange County is a private non-profit organization that works to fulfill a mission of protecting the quality of life in Orange County by ensuring equal access to housing opportunities, fostering diversity, and preserving dignity and human rights. Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Orange County is part of the nation's oldest and largest credit counseling organization. They are able to help consumers in a variety of arenas including but not limited to: foreclosure prevention, debt settlement, homebuyer counseling, etc.
