Medical Cannabis (Marijuana) Restriction and Limitation Initiative

On July 16, 2012, the City of Santa Ana received a voter initiative petition by the Committee to Support Medical Marijuana Ballot Initiative.

As required by law, the City provided a title and summary  and is attached for your information.

The Committee has published the Notice of Intent to Circulate and eligible to circulate their petition for signatures.  Proponents must submit their petition with required signatures on or before January 28, 2013 and must to obtain 16,374 qualified signatures to require a Special Election (15%) or 10,916 (10%) of to qualify for the next General Municipal Election in November, 2014, pursuant to California Election Code § 9214 and 9215 respectively.  (The Orange County Registrar of Voter’s Office submitted the last report of registration to the Secretary of State on May 21, 2012 and reflected 109,155 registered voters in the City of Santa Ana.)
