Community Events

Santa Ana is a cultural center in Orange County.  The community events that take place are unique to the city’s population and greatly contribute to the quality of life of Santa Ana residents.

CTV3 loves to be involved in community events.  The CTV3 team is there to capture events across the city as a means of informing residents on the latest in Santa Ana.  Past events include: the Free Day at the Santa Ana Zoo, the Adult Summer Reading Program, the Harbor Boulevard Corridor Fair, the Lowell-Pico Community Resource Fair, and the Santa Ana Public Library Día de los Niños/Children’s Day event.

TeenSpace Cooks

The teens at the TeenSpace at the Santa Ana Public Library are doing their part to learn the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.  TeenSpace Cooks is a program that allows teens to learn how to cook healthy alternatives to everyday favorites such as soup, quesadillas, arroz con leche (rice pudding), sloppy joe's, shepherd’s pie, chiles rellenos (stuffed peppers), and various other dishes.  Through TeenSpace Cooks, the teens at the Santa Ana Library wish to instill a healthy living mentality into the minds and hearts of CTV3 viewers.  These videos are all made possible by a California State Library LSTA Grant awarded to the Santa Ana Public Library.

Youth Health Ambassadors

The TeenSpace Youth Health Ambassadors have created seven “Small Steps to Healthy Living” videos.  In these brief seven videos, the teens educate their local community about different actions the public can take to live a healthier life.  Whether by eating whole foods, drinking water, taking the stairs instead of riding an elevator, eating fruits, stretching, eating healthy meat choices, or learning how to read food nutrition labels, these teens want to make a difference.  In addition, the teens are working on a documentary to bring public awareness about the three most commonly fatal diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.  All of these videos have allowed the teens at the TeenSpace to learn about the processes involved in video production and screenwriting while informing their community about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.
