Fire Chief - Dave Thomas

Dave Thomas is the Fire Chief of the Santa Ana Fire Department.  Chief Thomas commands (10) ten fire stations with (10) engines, (3) truck companies, (1) type I heavy US&R unit, (1) type I hazmat and transport unit, (6) paramedic units, an investigation section and communications division and fire prevention bureau.  Chief Thomas brings many years of diverse service and is committed to providing the highest level of emergency and business services to the community and visitors to the city.

Chief Thomas, who grew up in Santa Ana and graduated from Santa Ana Valley High School, has held a number of management positions with increasing responsibility since joining the department in 1984 as a reserve firefighter. Most recently he was interim fire chief but also served as deputy chief, battalion chief and captain.

Chief Thomas lives in Corona with his high school sweetheart and two sons. The family enjoys traveling, trips to the Colorado River and is big Anaheim Duck fans since both boys play ice hockey.

The Santa Ana Fire Department has protected businesses and residents in the city since1883.  Today the department continues that legacy by providing critical public safety and emergency services through its 10 stations manned by 280 trained personnel, including 204 sworn employees.
