Mission Statement

The Santa Ana Public Library’s "Santa Ana Civic Archive” program provided a series of training and mentoring sessions with the aim of training youth interns to document, edit, and digitally archive the oral histories of community leaders. These interns were given the support needed to begin the process of documenting the history of their community in their own words. The program culminated in the collection of over 50 interviews with local leaders representing a diverse cross section of the Santa Ana Community. The efforts of the interns are meant to highlight the benefits of creating opportunities for youth to connect with older generations of civically involved leaders in order to strengthen the community bonds that make a city function.
