| The Friends are volunteers that work in support of the Santa Ana Public Library. We hold book sales and other events to help raise funds. We take pride in the work we do in helping to fund the projects and equipment needed by the library that cannot be funded through the City budget. The Friends generated almost $4,000 from their book sales in 2009.
Among the projects the Friends have supported are:
- An online job search system
- Security cases for hundreds of CDs and DVDs
- Decorative murals in the Children’s Library and Learning Center
- Teen and Children’s programs and activities
- Library special events such as the Fourth of July celebration held in 2009
The Friends are looking for volunteers to join us in planning, organizing and operating our book sales, as well as doing the ongoing work that takes place between book sales. We also would welcome new members to our regular meetings. The Friends meet almost every Wednesday in the basement of the Library from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to prepare for our book sales, sorting and boxing books that are donated by the public or no longer used by the library. You are welcome to drop in to help with this project at any time, or you may call the library at 714-647-5266 for more information about membership and meetings.
If you have a love for books and want to find a way to help our community, take this opportunity and join a great organization.
