Library Volunteers

Become a Library volunteer! Volunteering at the Santa Ana Public Library can connect you with a world of literacy, cultural diversity, and learning.

Requirements

  • Volunteers must be at least 12 years old.
  • Volunteers must attend an orientation.
    • Orientations can be attended at the Central Library or Jerome Center.
      • Orientations occur the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month, at 4pm, in the Central Teenspace.
      • Walk-in orientations are available at Jerome Center TeenSpace during operating hours (Monday-Friday, 4pm-8:00pm).
    • Interested volunteers under the age of 18, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, during orientation.
  • Volunteers must complete a minimum of 30 hours.
  • Livescan is required for volunteers 18 and over.
  • No probation or court ordered community service volunteers age 18 or over will be accepted.

Volunteers help to improve Library services in many ways. Some of the tasks include helping with:

  • Cleaning, shelving, and straightening library materials.
  • Filing, typing, and inputting data.
  • Friends of the Library Book Sales.
  • Processing library materials.
  • Assisting with children's programs.
