Project Description:

The Bat Nha Meditation Institute of America is proposing to construct an 8,600 square foot meditation center/temple at 803 South Sullivan Street. The 1.46 acre site currently consists of two parcels. The northern parcel (719 South Sullivan Street) currently contains a small single-family residence, with the south parcel the current home of Bat Nha. The rear of the site contains a few ancillary buildings and surface parking for the current use. The applicant is proposing to demolish all structures on both sites and construct a two–level facility. The ground level, which will be approximately 6 feet below grade, will contain 115 parking spaces. The upper podium level will contain the worship space, office areas and landscaped gardens. The structure will be approximately 48 feet at the highest point. The project will require a conditional use permit to allow a church in the Single-Family (R-1) Residential zoning district, variances from the parking and height standards and a lot merger to combine the two lots into one parcel.
