Creating Our Future: Strategic Planning Process
The City has initiated a strategic planning process to define community priorities which can guide development of the City’s five-year strategic plan. A strategic plan is a clear statement of where the City is going and how it intends to get there. It includes a vision, a description of the mission of the organization, a set of values that will guide actions, a set of multi-year goals that guide decisions, strategies for each of the goals, and an action plan for implementation. The action plan is what ensures the strategic plan is realistic and achievable.
The City Council desires participation and input into this planning process by a broad range of community interests – residents, businesses, non-profit organizations serving Santa Ana, students, the faith community, property owners, educators, and others. There will be many opportunities for this input, from a community forum to focus groups to a community survey to City Council meetings. The input received will be provided to the City Council as they consider City goals and priorities for the next five years.
