The City of Santa Ana’s Wellness Program serves as a comprehensive guide for residents to obtain information on health and fitness resources throughout the city. From bike trails to park amenities and community gardens to recreation classes, this program is a one-stop shop for all wellness related options offered in your neighborhood. The City's Youth Sports Program provides instructional training in rules and regulations as well as fundamental skill development, practices, and games for children in Pre Kinder through eighth grades. The program currently offers four seasons. They are Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Co-Ed Rookie Baseball and Co-Ed Flag Football.
Registrations take place at Jerome Center located at 726 S. Center St., Santa Ana, CA 92704. Boys Basketball registrations take place in November, Girls Basketball registrations take place in February, Co-Ed Rookie Baseball registrations take place in June and Co-Ed Flag Football registrations take place in August of each year.
The registration fee is $35.72 (subject to change) and includes a team shirt, an eight week season, and a participation trophy for all players. Most teams practice up to twice a week and play at least one game each week. All activities take place after 5:00 pm.

Chess Clubs teach game rules, strategies, and techniques and provide skill development, practice games, and tournaments. Chess tournaments are typically held in March, June, September, and December each year and provide trophies for first, second, and third place winners in a number of expertise levels, and all players receive a participation ribbon. Aquatics programming is offered during the summer months from Memorial Day through Labor Day for all ages. The Learn to Swim Program is conducted by Blue Ray Management Recreation and Aquatics Services for ages three and up. Swim lessons are offered at Memorial and Jerome pools in the mornings and afternoons, and at El Salvador, Salgado, and Santa Anita pools only in the afternoons.
Parent/Tot Learn to Swim is offered for parents and their children ages 6 months to 3 years old and provides water orientation and basic water skills. Blue Ray also offers swim teams for ages 5 to 18 at all five city pools as well as water polo for ages 9 to 14 at Memorial pool and aqua aerobics for all ages at Salgado pool.
The City’s recreation swim program is offered at all five city pools Tuesday through Sunday and offers fun for the entire family for only $1.00 for children and $2 for adults per session. Two afternoon sessions are offered at Memorial and Jerome pools and one afternoon session is offered at El Salvador, Salgado, and Santa Anita pools. Project P.R.I.D.E. (Parks and Recreation Inspires Dignity and Esteem)
Project PRIDE provides positive alternatives for youths through family and teen recreation and volunteer activities that provide opportunities for all family members, young and old engage in physical activity and to make meaningful contributions to their communities in ways that bring recognition and help them earn respect.
Family PRIDE Clubs
Family PRIDE Clubs meet regularly at eight sites in Santa Ana, including Santa Ana Senior Center, Roosevelt Elementary School, Southwest Senior Center, and El Salvador, Salgado, Memorial, Santa Anita, and Logan Recreation Centers. Family PRIDE Clubs participate in interactive activities and learn the importance of family recreation as a way to build strong families and prevent problem behaviors. The PRIDE Kayaking Program trains and prepares teens to participate in local, county, state, and national tournaments throughout the year. Teens receive rigorous training on the water and in the weight room to develop strength, endurance, and racing skills. Teen Kayakers have represented the City of Santa Ana in tournaments in Hawaii, San Diego, Ventura County, Marina del Rey, and Santa Barbara, which has resulted in high placement in several award categories each year.
Community Garden Program
The City of Santa Ana's Community Garden Program offers youth and their families the training and motivation to adopt healthy food habits. Through a series of workshops and hands on volunteer work, families will learn to work together and create a home based garden. The workshops are free and open to the public at all community garden locations. Workshop topics include the essentials of urban gardening, growing food, transplanting seedlings, croprotation, composting, water conservation methods and much more.
